Jason Anthony Gomez is an American composer and violinist currently serving as Composer-in-Residence with Orchestra Santa Monica. His music blends the intricate textures of contemporary classical music with the rhythmic vitality and aesthetic sensibilities of indie pop and jazz. Characterized by tuneful lyricism, syncopated energy, and a strong sense of narrative, Gomez’s work seeks to connect with audiences both within and beyond traditional concert spaces.

Gomez was a composition fellow at the Alba Music Festival in 2018, where his mixed quartet Dance was premiered by the SOLI Chamber Ensemble and later featured by the Boston New Music Initiative. In 2022, his collection of duos for flute and clarinet, Microludes, was selected for premiere by the Vermillion Duet.

In 2024, Gomez’s Echoes from Mojave: Pioneers of the Supersonic Frontier, a wind ensemble work commissioned by the California State University Bakersfield Concert Band under music director Leo Sakomoto. The piece explores the historic Bell X-1 project and the breaking of the sound barrier. 

In 2025, Gomez’s Potentia, a commission for baritone/narrator and orchestra, was premiered by Orchestra Santa Monica under music director Roger Kalia. The work featured poetry by Santa Monica's first ever Poet Laureate, Anne Carmack, and was narrated by acclaimed baritone Jubilant Sykes, further establishing Gomez’s voice in large-scale concert works.

In addition to his compositional work, Gomez performs in Air and Water Duo, a violin/clarinet ensemble, alongside his partner Kristin Nakagawa. Together, they share a peaceful life with their spirited cat, Freddy.

With a continual drive to explore and innovate, Gomez remains dedicated to creating music that bridges genres and engages listeners in new and exciting ways.
