Jubilant Sykes was a man who truly embodied the name he was blessed with

Jubilant was a man who truly embodied the name he was blessed with. His generosity of spirit and infectious smile welcomed everyone with warmth and encouragement, creating an atmosphere in which artists felt supported and valued. For all his accomplishments and accolades, he carried himself with a humility that made those around him feel like true collaborators in the artistic process.

I was fortunate to experience this during the creation of Potentia. Whenever the work felt overwhelming, he was often the first to offer reassurance, encouraging me to keep going, to keep writing, and sharing his excitement to witness the finished work. That kind of encouragement meant everything, especially as this project represented a period of significant growth for me. His voice and interpretation of Anne’s text became essential to the emotional core of the piece, illuminating nuances that only he could reveal. For me, his performance at the premiere will always stand as the definitive one.

I am deeply humbled that our paths crossed and that, with Roger and Anne, we were able to share in something truly genuine. Jubilant’s artistry, kindness, and presence left an imprint that endures in the music, in the memory of his voice, and in the way he made the people around him better.
